Discovery Time – Making Chop Suey
For an early Samoan Language week activity we make Sapa Sui – Samoan style Chop suey. We have some very competent cooks in Rimu Nui who can grate, chop and stir. The noodles were wriggly like little worms!
Discovery Time Pikelets
This week at Discovery Time we made pikelets. We made use of our recent learning about fractions to find 1/4 and 1/2 cups to measure the sugar and flour and milk. We also needed lots to team work to make the batter and spread the jam and butter on the cooked pikelets. They were very yummy!
Obleck – Science Fun
During Science we are learning about solids ,liquids and gases. We found out that Obleck can not be classified as only one. It is sometimes like a liquid and sometimes like solid. It was loads of fun finding out how it changes.
Discovery Time Week 2
Week 2 of Discovery time was camping day as Rimu Nui are “camping out” while our classrooms are being built. Lots of team work and problem solving was required to put up the tents, and then Rimu Nui children could play!
